Practical Skills - Learning to unpack backpacks, hang up outerwear and independent bathroom etiquette. Capability in opening and eating lunch by practicing fine motor skills in opening juice boxes, cheese stick wrappers, yogurt containers, etc. These skills create confidence and help with kindergarten readiness.
Social Skills - Interaction with adults and peers in group activities while following directions and adjusting to classroom routines. Emphasis is placed on accountability for choices made. Recognizing and implementing appropriate behavior, and social skills, as well as and learning to follow directions with a minimum amount of refocusing is fine-tuned. Emotional Skills - Learning to play well and empathize with others while retaining each child’s unique personality. Age appropriate conflict resolution skills. Learn to minimize the internal stress children may place upon themselves. Our aim is for the children to have a positive and uplifting view of education and more importantly, themselves.
Cognitive & Language Skills – Children will work on their listening and speaking skills, pre-reading and writing abilities. Compound words, syllables, as well as rhyming are focuses.
Mathematical Skills - Children will learn age-appropriate math and problem-solving.
Scientific Thinking Skills - Children are encouraged to learn about their environment through observation, asking questions, and drawing conclusions through activities.
Chester Co-Op partners with members of the community, local charities, Geauga Park District, Geauga Library, and first responders to bring enrichment and enhanced learning into the classroom. |
