The preschool is a cooperative. This means that it is organized and administered by parents and staffed by a professional teacher. Mothers and fathers serve as officers and assist the teacher in the classroom with the planned curriculum, typically one day each month. On that day, it is their child's "special day". Parents are also encouraged to share their talents and interests. The preschool recognizes that parents are the primary educators of a young child. Parents are able to participate with their child in their first school experiences and feel that they have an influence in shaping the program to meet their needs. Through the parent's participation, the school's program is enriched in a way that is unattainable in a non-cooperative school. It is not only the valuable guidance of teachers, but also the enthusiasm and involvement of parents that gives the school its special character.
Is the co-op a nonprofit Organization?
Yes, the Co-op is a non profit organization. Donations are tax deductible.
Is fundraising involved?
Yes, we have an awesome fundraiser every year! We are not affiliated with any other organization, so we have to pay more in facility rentals than many other preschools. Our fundraising goes towards rent, upkeep, and scholarship funds. We have raffles occasionally and a big evening fundraiser in March every year. As a cooperative school, it is every family's responsibility to participate in every way they can to support our school.

What is the discipline policy?
Obtaining a value of self-value is an important goal of our school and one that we want to help the children master. Therefore, discipline will be approached from a realization that children need to learn self-control and to be able to internalize the rules of behavior. An attitude of firmness with kindness will be used when stating expectations for children’s behavior.
1. The teacher will talk to the child in a quiet area discussing the issue at hand. 2. A second warning will be given asking the child to choose a smarter choice, actions or words. 3. The child will be redirected to either work on puzzles or find a book to look at. This gives the child a chance to remove himself from the stressful situation and become in control of his/her emotions. 4. After a few minutes the teacher will talk to the child about the situation and when the child seems to be able to handle the situation he/she will be reentered into that environment- This “ regrouping time” is never longer than 4- 5 minutes. 5. If the problem continues to occur a parent teacher conference may be needed. 6 If a medical condition occurs due to actions of children an incident report will be completed without the name of the other child involved. This report will be sent home the day of the incident.
All children will be treated with love and respect. If children are treated with respect, they in turn learn how to respect. Our expectations will be kept within the child’s capabilities. CORPORAL PUNISHMENT WILL NOT BE TOLERATED IN ANY FORM AT THIS SCHOOL.
